Please Pardon My Dust!

I’m currently working on transferring this site to WordPress. Eventually, it will be great beyond our wildest imaginations. But right now, there may be a few glitches, links that don’t work, and doors to nowhere, not unlike the Winchester Mystery House. Thank you for your patience.

Here are a few things you can do to help:

1) If you read this blog through a Feed Reader you may need to update the URL for the feed. It is now http://fakeplasticfish.com/feed/

2) If you are a blogger who has linked to any articles in this blog, those links will probably no longer work. Since starting this blog in 2007, I have written over 500 posts and am now manually going through every single one and creating a Re-direct to the new web address because I can’t figure out any other way to do it. You could help by letting me know about broken links so I can fix them right away or let you know what the new link on your site should be.

3) If anything on this site looks strange or doesn’t work properly, please let me know. And also, please let me know what platform you are on (Mac or PC) and what Browser/Version you use (Windows Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)

4) Do any of you have experience with WordPress? If so, what plugins do you think are essential?

    4. I like the subscribe to comments with/without commenting plugin. But I see you already have the comment subscription option.

    6. Your new site works great! I was subscribed to it before, and it showed up in my RSS reader today without me doing anything or making any changes. So it seems to be working well. :)

    As for plugins, I’m a sucker for Comment Luv, which I see you have already. So you’re way ahead of me. :)

    7. Hey, Beanie. I thought that was an option in “Subscribe to Comments” that I had turned off, but now I can’t find it. What could I have been thinking of? (I went into the Settings for Subscribe to Comments and I can’t find it.)

    No Gravatars because I hate them. Bah, humbug. Those I did specifically turn off.

    But I gave you CommentLuv, so that’s something, right?

    11. I’m just curious, Beth – why are you changing to WordPress? Is there some ethical issue with blogspot (which I use) that I don’t know about? Or is it just out of choice?

    12. Hi Daharja. No, no ethical issue with Blogger. I actually was never on Blogspot. I was using Blogger but hosting my own site. Anyway, I switched to WordPress just because it will allow me to do many more things with this blog. Right now, I’m just making sure everything works properly. But in the future, I’ll add some features that will let me organize the information better.
